Our Story

Two high school friends. A shared love of mountains. A vision to transform an industry.

Built on Friendship,
Forged in the Mountains

4K Elevation started the way many great things do — with two friends, a big idea, and a trail to the top. Adam and Matt met in high school and discovered a shared obsession: mountains. Over the years, they've stood on some of the most iconic summits in the Northeast and the Alps, from the wind-battered peak of Mount Washington to the alpine meadows above Saas-Fee.

Along the way, they each built deep careers in very different worlds. Adam spent 25 years in software engineering — architecting systems, leading teams, and pushing the boundaries of what technology can do. Matt spent 25 years in the elevator and people mover industry — understanding the machines, the regulations, the people, and the problems that have gone unsolved for decades.

One day on a ridge somewhere between treeline and summit, the idea clicked: what if they combined everything they knew? What if they brought modern, AI-forward thinking to an industry that moves billions of people every day but still runs on yesterday's technology?

4K Elevation was born.

The 4K Connection

In New England, hikers chase the "four-thousand footers" — the iconic peaks above 4,000 feet that define the backbone of the White Mountains and Green Mountains. Cross the Atlantic to the Alps and "4K" takes on an even grander meaning: the 4,000-meter giants that tower above places like Saas-Fee. Whether measured in feet or meters, 4K represents the summits that demand everything from you and reward you with something unforgettable. Our name is a nod to the mountains that shaped us — and the heights we aim to reach.

6,288 ft

Mount Washington

New Hampshire, USA

The highest peak in the Northeast. Known for its extreme weather and the cog railway that pioneered mountain transportation — a fitting symbol for our work.

4,393 ft

Mt. Mansfield

Vermont, USA

Vermont's tallest peak, with a ridgeline that resembles a human face in profile. A reminder that technology should always serve people first.

11,975 ft

Saas-Fee

Valais, Switzerland

A car-free alpine village surrounded by thirteen 4,000-meter peaks — and home to the Metro Alpin, the world's highest underground funicular. A place where alpine engineering and people movers converge at 3,500 meters. It doesn't get more on-brand than that.

Bringing Intelligence to Every Ride

The elevator industry moves over 1 billion people every single day. Yet much of its core technology — the monitoring, diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and operational intelligence — hasn't kept pace with the AI revolution happening everywhere else.

We believe that's an enormous opportunity. Our mission is to build AI-forward software that makes elevators and people movers smarter, safer, and more efficient. We combine deep domain knowledge with cutting-edge engineering to create solutions that actually understand the industry they serve.

Like the mountains we climb, we believe the best view comes from doing the hard work to get there. No shortcuts. No hype. Just real technology solving real problems.
